Hua Yu

With over 25 years of professional experience in marketing, finance and management in Canada, the US and China, WeWorkingWomen Co-Founder Hua Yu is widely recognized as a skilled strategic advisor with rich business acumen and global expertise. As Managing Partner of LEVEL5 Strategy Group, Hua specializes in providing cross-border business strategy to both Chinese and North American companies. Her clients have included Canada Goose, SickKids Foundation, 3M, the University of Toronto, Canada Post, and Second Cup.

Originally from Shanghai, China, Hua kicked off her career with the launch of Seagram’s Wine Coolers in China, successfully introducing a new product to local consumers. After moving to New York City to pursue a Masters Degree in Communications, Hua accumulated experience working with senior US government officials on telecom projects, and later launched two successful IPOs for prominent Chinese companies on the US stock market. Since relocating to Canada and forging her way up the corporate ladder, Hua noticed the incredible untapped potential of Chinese women professionals, and sought to create WeWorkingWomen as platform to support women executives and entrepreneurs in advancing their careers and achieving their personal goals.

Known for her candid advice and sharp business commentary, Hua is highly regarded as a Canadian industry leader in multicultural strategy, and as a trailblazing role model for women professionals of all backgrounds. In 2014, Hua received the Mandarin Profile Awards for her achievements in Professional Service. She lectures at the University of Toronto, serves the Board of Directors of Destination Ontario, and is a Member of the SickKids Foundation Chinese Committee.

Sherry Zhang

A digital marketing specialist with over 20 years of experience in the Canada and China markets, WeWorkingWomen Co-Founder Sherry Zhang is a sought out voice on women’s leadership, business strategy, and engaging with the ethnic Chinese and China market. An innovative strategist with a results-oriented approach to marketing and managing digital campaigns, Sherry has worked with clients such as the University of Toronto, Pet Valu, Elizabeth Arden, Concord Adex, Wind Mobile, and Huggies. WeWorkingWomen’s rapid growth is largely attributed to Sherry’s social media expertise and in-depth experience with platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Twitter, WeChat, Weibo, and Toutiao, as well as with online radio, and live broadcasting.

Originally from China where she first launched her career, Sherry came to Canada to study English in 1999. The challenges she confronted restarting her career in North America awakened Sherry to the lack of resources for women to propel their professional development. Sherry sees WeWorkingWomen as a platform created to empower subscribers with online content and educational resources that guide professional advancement and foster entrepreneurship. Sherry holds a coaching certification from Erickson International and is considered an expert mentor for professional development and entrepreneurship.
